Dr. Rafael Pineda - DVM / Practice Manager

Veterinarian

Dr. Rafael Pineda grew up in the city of Bogotá, DC (Colombia), and graduated as a Veterinarian from the University of Applied and Environmental Science (UDCA), in 2000. In January of 2016 he completed his Canadian Veterinary Licensing Process; ever since he has been working in a rural mixed practice in Saskatchewan. In 2022 he joined Shaunavon Animal Clinic as the main Veterinarian and practice manager; following the legacy and vision that Dr.Cadieux once started.

His interest in animal health and wellness was sprouted by the many visits to the countryside during school holidays where he spent time at Grandpa’s and Grandma’s acreage interacting with nature and farm animals. Dr. Pineda strongly believes in the key role of veterinary medicine in public health and the well being of both animals and society as a whole.

In his free time Rafael spends time with his wife Karen and daughter Kamilah enjoying many activities indoor and outdoor.

Linda Francis-Fritz - VA
Linda Francis-Fritz - VA

Veterinary Assistant

Linda has been a loyal and dedicated employee at Shaunavon Animal Clinic for many years. She first started working for Dr. Ken Cadieux while completing her diploma in animal sciences from ICS.
Animals have always been Linda's passion and a huge part of her life. She is very grateful for the opportunity Shaunavon Animal Clinic has given her to work with both small and large animals everyday. Linda tries very hard to be helpful and caring. She understands very well that she is looking after some clients' liveihoods and other clients family members 'fur kids'. Linda is also very thankful for the clients she has met over the years, many who have become close friends.

Linda first developed her love of animals growing up on the family farm at Crichton, SK. She later moved to Instow, SK, after getting married. Linda and her husband continue to raise cattle and share their lives with many pets. When she is not at the clinic, Linda is busy doing chores, feeding her livestock and working around her farm.

Gaira
Gaira

Chief of Purrs and Morale

Gaira is our cheerful Chief of Purrs and Morale, bringing joy, warmth, and plenty of energy to everyone who walks through the clinic doors. She was lovingly given to us by a kind family who thought her sweet personality would make her the perfect clinic cat — and they were absolutely right.

From the moment she arrived as a tiny kitten, Gaira seemed to know exactly where she belonged. She loves to run to greet clients, offer cuddles on demand, and brighten everyone’s day with her playful spirit and unmistakable short little tail that never fails to make people smile.

Under the expert guidance of our senior cat, Johny, Gaira has quickly learned the fine art of hospitality and patient care. Together, they make a wonderful team — one ensuring everything runs smoothly, and the other spreading love, purrs, and happiness throughout the clinic.

Johny
Johny

Clinic Ambassador

Johny is our beloved Clinic Ambassador — and, truth be told, the real boss around here. He first came to the clinic for treatment of a bad eye, and after a little healing (and a lot of charm), he decided to stay for good.

Johny takes his role very seriously — overseeing daily operations from his favorite sunny spot, greeting clients when he feels like it, and ensuring that everyone remembers who’s really in charge. While he enjoys being petted on his own terms, he’s also incredibly affectionate and cuddly when the mood strikes.

Over time, Johny has even taken on a mentorship role, teaching Gaira, our younger clinic cat, how to greet visitors and look after patients with calm confidence. Whether he’s supervising from the reception desk or sneaking in a nap between appointments, Johny adds warmth, personality, and a touch of feline wisdom to our team every single day.
